I've been working internationally in the biosafety and biosecurity field for nearly 15 years, with the last 6 years as the Owner, Founder, CEO, and BRM Consultant of Project Safe Lab, LLC. In this role, Project Safe Lab has been the recipient of USG contracts and subcontracts under the umbrella of Cooperative Threat Reduction and has had the pleasure of working closely with key implementers, such as CRDF Global (Affiliated Expert) and Health Security Partners (HSP), to promote safe and secure best practices in the bioscience laboratory.
Before this, I worked at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) as a Senior Engineering Program & Project Lead, where I contributed significantly to the Global Biorisk Management Curriculum (GBRMC), led BRM Trainer Development Programs, and provided technical biorisk management mentorship to partner laboratories around the world. One of my biggest contributions at SNL was co-authoring a chapter on Biorisk Management Training in the book "Laboratory Biorisk Management Biosafety and Biosecurity" edited by Reynolds M. Salerno and Jennifer Gaudioso.
I completed my Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Arizona, with formal training in Virology, studying latency factors in Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV).
Throughout my career I've always had a passion for promoting science education and outreach efforts with the goal of enabling others to work safely, securely, and responsibly in the pursuit of scientific discovery.
